Hey what’s good fam?
Hope I find you well hey! Lest I forget, should I say happy New Year or happy
new month? Anyway I hope you’ll have a great month ahead of you.
So as we jet off the
month of February, I’d like to introduce to you one of the upcoming talented
rappers. In fact, let me introduce to one song which I think you gon give props
all the way.
I don’t know if you’ve
ever heard of M Killer but he’s got a dope song entitled Ghetto which he featured his homie J Enigma.
The track is all about
the ghetto life and how niggaz are pulling strings to make ends meet. They talk
about the way they hustle and how they are upgrading to the ‘higher levels’
The Hip Hop track starts
with a traditional drum for the first few seconds (one aspect not used by many
Hip Hop producers) and also ends with the traditional drum which makes it kinda
unique from other Hip Hop tracks that I’ve been listening to.
The beat goes hand in
glove with Enigma’s chorus in which his melodic voice murdered the whole track.
The chorus goes like, “I’m on another lever, if you looking for me homie you
can find me in the ghetto ndine boys ndakatyoka x2”
The 1st
verse (by M – Killer) seems as if the song is based on a true story and that’s
one thing I liked about the track. It’s not about those vapfana who be talking
bout what they don’t have.
I really didn’t feel
the 2nd verse by Enigma, of which I think they should have put
someone else or M – Killer should have done it. From the way Enigma sang the
chorus, he should have just remained on the chorus.
Another thing which I
feel they should have added on the track is a lil bit of vernacular on their
verses. Nowadays it seems as if vernacular is taking all the money especially
with the inclusion of a dope wordplay, metaphors and similes.
Anyway I give this
track 3 stars because of the way it was tackled, from the beat, the chorus and
the verses (exclude the 2nd verse lol)
