Do you know what
happens when hard work meets talent? Okay, let’s put it this way. Mcpotar ain’t
simply a phantom in our minds, I mean in the Zim Hip Hop industry.
Yesterday as I was
scrolling down my Facebook timeline I discovered about three people who had
shared Mcpotar’s animated video and was like, “Did Potar went ahead of his time or am failing to see” and YES, the
Potardent surprised us all.
I don’t know what inspired
him but the video which was scheduled to drop today (22/02/16) was apparently
dropped yesterday (21/02/16) the same day as BOB’s birthday (I don’t know if it was a coincidence or
pre-planned).
The animated video
which is entitled ‘The City’ was produced by The Hitmen and featured the
beautiful Ivy with a sonorous voice backing the chorus. In the
video you can easily spot Potar and the other bearded guy running some errands
some after work, the Joina City building and Ivy.
So what’s unique about
this video is that it is the 1st of its kind in the history of Zim
Hip Hop (name any if you disagree) and
I think Mcpotar has opened an avenue for other rappers to follow suit.
Who would have known
that Potar’s animation skills would lead to this? If you really know your Hip
Hop well then you’d be aware that Kanye West has done it and even the Wu Tang
Clan has also done it, so why can’t you do it? This is not a taboo in the
history of Hip Hop.
So for starters I might
rate the video an 8 out of 10. Of course there might be bloopers and blunders
here and there in the video but let’s face it, he is the pioneer and he’s going
to inspire a lot of rappers out there.
