Organiser of the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) said preparations of the six-day fiesta are going according to plan and they were now vetting the applications.

The festivals associate executive director, Tafadzwa Simba said they were pleased with the response from the public, adding that the programme would be rolled out to the public in the coming weeks.

“Preparations have progressed well. The call for artistic applications closed on December 31 and they are now being assessed. The response has been terrific and applications from all over the world have come in,” he said.

Simba said audiences should expect the same high standard of local and foreign artistic talent being showcased at the festival to be held from May 2 to 7 under the theme Next Level.

Considered among the top festivals in Africa and the world, the fête covers six main genres, namely theatre, dance, music, circus, applied art and design, fashion and spoken word.

Hardly a day after posting a heartfelt apology over her video exposing their marital problems and the announcement that they were back together again, controversial musician Desmond “Stunner” Chideme’s wife Olinda Chapel went public yesterday threatening to kill herself over his alleged infidelity.

In a series of videos on Thursday, the weeping Chapel accused the Team Hombe hitmaker of cheating and threatened to commit suicide.

A few hours later, Chapel took to Facebook and apologised to Stunner as she claimed that she was fed with false information by one of her husband’s friends.

While it appeared Chapel and Stunner had resolved their differences as the couple took to Facebook and Snapchat respectively to confirm their reunion, many were shocked yesterday at Chapel’s fresh live-streamed video throwing out and threatening to burn Stunner’s clothes.

The video opened with Chapel and Stunner jostling as the United Kingdom-based woman threw her husband’s clothes outside the house and threatened to burn them.

In the same video, Stunner is heard saying he was no longer interested in the marriage as Chapel was suicidal.

“Do not be on my video. Let’s burn everything, stop touching me, let’s take everything out …you are the one who started this,” Chapel shouted.

In the initial video, Chapel had claimed that she was the one bankrolling Stunner’s lavish lifestyle.

She accused her husband of using her money to entertain his girlfriends at their house.

The videos have ignited debate, with some Zimbabweans pleading with Chapel to end the relationship, saying she was being abused.

Others accused her of playing to the gallery and trying to gain fame.

Stunner is not new to controversy after his leaked sex tape with former Zimbabwe’s representative to Big Brother Africa Pokello Nare into the headlines.

The two had a nasty break-up as Nare accused Stunner of milking her of her money.

Remember when we said Mami Dred Boy Dabs on ‘em? Well the video for the track is now out and it is on point.

Mami Dred (in the middle)

The London based Hip Hop femcee has dropped her first official video for her maiden track titled Boy Dab.

The video which was directed by Jack Smith and filmed by Steele and Coe mirrors how the modern youths enjoy themselves nowadays as they do the famous and trendy dance move, the dab.

The video starts with an aerial view of somewhere in London and drops to a scene where some youths will be dabbing on a basketball court.

The location, video quality and everything on the video is quite impressive as we expected not to mention how “swaggy’ everyone on the video will be looking.

If there is one video you need to watch now, it is Boy Dab.

Only back in 2014 when we got to know about T1 WeMa1 and now he is a force to reckon with in the Zim Hip Hop industry.

T1 WeMa1 has recently dropped his fire track titled Mhanya and it featured the Bulawayo based and award winning rapper Guluva Se7en.

The track was produced by Vic Enlisted.

Mhanya is kind of a tale of how people are now surviving in Zimbabwe through vending and the obstacles they meet whilst trying to earn a living.

T1 WeMa1 incorporated his signature wordplays, similes and metaphors to come up with a well delivered joint.

On the other hand Guluva made sure he gives in his all as he also drops some exciting and rhyming bars which you would want to hear over and over again.

Also known as an ode to Zimbabwe’s street hustlers, the track is set to be a street anthem as it really explains how all street hustlers go through on their daily lives.

Mhanya is the first single off T1’s upcoming album Ghetto Rap.

Hip Hop sensation Meister has started the year on a high note after dropping what seems to be one of his best tracks up to date.

The new song titled ‘Musiye Akadaro’ (leave him/her) was produced by Casper Beats and Gee Beats at Bazooka Studios.

Meister uses his wordplay as he try to send a message to people that no matter what one does, God is always watching over and one should not be intimidated by others in whatever they do in life.

The rapper goes on to comfort all the girls who are worried about not getting married and not getting money for their own upkeep by saying everything will be okay and they should not worry as their time will come.

This song touches on the social aspect of our everyday lives and motivates people to keep doing what they do and leave those who downplay others.

Dancehall chanter Soul Jah Love, real name Soul Musaka, who has been making headlines in the past weeks over his apparent non-stop tale of misfortunes, has turned the events into song.
BY KENNEDY NYAVAYA

Recently, the Ndini Uya Uya singer had an ulcer on his left leg, with doctors contemplating amputation. This prompted him to visit local prophet Walter Magaya seeking spiritual healing.
According to reports from his camp the “miraculous touch” by the prophet changed his fate and he is now recuperating. But, just how much agony can he endure in one lifetime?
When he shot to fame in 2012 it was a typical rags-to-riches story, giving the impression that he was destined to live happily ever after, but life appears unfair to him as he hops from one calamity to another.
Late last year his house was razed down along with other illegal structures in Budiriro. This year the Conquering Family frontman has had to deal with a lot of unfortunate situations.
In all the chaos, however, Chibaba (his other moniker) has found solace in music, choosing to narrate his adversities through the microphone.
“Inini ndiri murima handione asi ndinoziva kuchachena chete mandimba ndimba handikwate ibasa rangu iri saka handinete [I am in darkness but I know dawn is coming. I do not fear anything, music is my trade and I will not tire]…” he sings on one of his songs titled Kuchachena.
Most of his latest music is derived directly from his life experiences and there is no doubt that his music has evolved.
Unlike in previous years, his lyrical content has shifted greatly from dance songs including Gum-kum and ChiSuit CheGreen to ones that paint a gloomy picture of his troubled life.
In songs like Mbereko off his album launched in February, he pours his heart out on how hurt he feels about the ridicule he gets for not having a child with Bounty Lisa, his partner.
In an interview last week, his manager MarshalWadisBimha said the 27-year-old artiste experienced a rough life since childhood and hence has become used to it.
“He has experienced a rough life since long back before he became famous; so in short, he is used to it now and he is working towards ending it forever,” said Wadis.
According to Wadis, the controversial musician who is known for his lyrical prowess concedes that he errs like all humans and his fans should aim to do better than him.
Soul Jah Love’s history is an uninspiring account of catastrophe. He is said to have been cast out from the family house by his stepmother soon after the death of his biological mother when he was an infant.
He was then adopted by his grandmother, who later died when he was five years old. His father passed away in 2005 at a time they were living in Waterfalls.
Suffering from diabetes, he had to find a way to survive and he turned to music, which has changed his life to where it is today.

Legendary Muzik released yet an outstanding riddim last Thursday titled Mad Summer 16 Riddim and was produced by JMP and Dj Gwyte.

By Nicola Gibson

In an interview with THE ZIM-TAINMENT, the organisation says the riddim is created to celebrate this year’s summer.

The riddim brings a tropical sound to Zimbabwe and is perfect for the outdoor environment.

Mad summer16 riddim is a Legendary Muzik production which is basically a celebration of the summer season of 2016 in Zimbabwe.

“It’s a tropical kind of sound that is celebrating everything that the Zimbabwean summer brings, from the jacaranda flowers to sunny days and pool parties, the riddim is meant to give people the summer vibe", added Juwela.

The riddim has twenty singles from both upcoming and popular Zimdancehall artists. It features artists like Freeman, Shinsoman, Guspy Warrior, Dj Smylie, Faceless, Juwela, Poptain, Nonsikelelo, Tytania, Maggikal and Jah Child to mention a few .

Mad Summer 16 was launched last week Thursday on Judgment yard on ZiFM stereo and on Star Fm with Godfather Templeman and Gary B. Meanwhile Juwela a member of legendary muzik says the date of the official launch party is withheld and the organisation is yet to notify the public soon.

The riddim has already hit the streets and the organisation is hoping to receive an outstanding air play from the singles with Mad Summer 16 Riddim. Some of the tracks for the riddim are Smylie’s Good body girl, Juwela's Headache and gumbo mumba gumbo panze by Shinsoman.

“People should expect only the best of summer songs that will turn the summer up and rock every radio" she says.

Also known for its 16 Inch riddim, Legendary Muzik is on a quest to produce a lot of singles this year for example Tippy toes by Juwela.

Other artists like Poptain and Joker di Genius are currently in Zambia working on another single with a Zambian artist called Blacka Dido.

It's now the second quarter of the year and surely Zim Hip Hop artists are keeping us up in our vicinity. We've seen single tracks, albums and EPs being dropped from the 1st of January up to now. One of the oans who we should talk about is MobX who has recently dropped an EP and it's entitled Central Africa Time (CAT).

The EP which is finally done has 6 tracks including the single, Real love which featured Sister Flame and the second single, 3rd World which featured Yung G.

The EP starts off with the intro, Good Morning Zimbabwe, were MobX drops 32 bars of street knowledge, produced by MobX himself and Dee a former member of trinity. The intro kicks it off with a mild tempo.

The second track is Honai produced by MobX, a very political and current situation driven track. It talks about politics ZIM Hip Hop, women and life. This track is like the first of its kind according to MobX. The lyrics are hard and honest complimented by a dope hook and grungy beat, it's definitely something for the ear considering the times we're going through.

3rd World is the third track featuring Yung G and it's currently available for streaming on Reverbnation just like any other track in the EP.

The fourth track is entitled I will not lose featuring Young Red and this track has potential of being the 3rd single on the ep, added MobX. It was produced by Cutty beats, Vito and MobX. It talks about not giving up, chasing dreams, hence the title #IwillNotLose. The beat has a distinctive Zimbabwean feel to it with hard kicks and a rumbling bass and this track will definitely make u feel some type of way.

Track number 5 is Ghetto way featuring Josie and Mob G. It's produced by Cutty Beatz and MobX, with Josie on the prehook and Mob G on the third verse. Mob G is only the rap feature on this project. This song talks about finding a way when facing difficult situations. With a clean beat and hook to it, it drives the point home and Mob G certainly took it there with his well thought and executed verse.

The last is the hit single Real Love and it features 'thee' Sister Flame whom most of you remember very well. The track which did quite well on local radio stations. From his press release statement, they are currently planning to shoot a video for the track. This is probably what the fans and the industry need to advance to another stage.

So as Zim Tainment we urge you all to wait and look out for the visuals of MobX EP, Central Africa Time.

TRACK LIST
1. Good Morning Zimbabwe (intro)
2. Honai
3. 3rd World ft Yung G
4. I will not lose ft Young Red
5. Ghetto Way ft Josie & MobG
6. Real love ft Sister Flame

Apparently it seems as if 2016 is one of the best seasons in the Zim Hip Hop industry as we see artists dropping EPs, albums, single tracks and dope visuals for their works as well as staying on the local radio chart shows.

Yesterday (27/06/2016) saw one of the pacesetters in Zim Hip Hop clinging to his word as he dropped a stellar video for one of his doppest tracks, Nyarara.

Marcques who had teased us with a trailer of the video Nyarara a few days back finally dropped the official video on his Vevo.

Nyarara is obviously one of the doppest videos to be released this year. The video was shot in the notorious ghetto of Mbare as it can be noticed by the graffitis and the ghetto youths who’ll be appearing in the video.

Mr Zunguza is seen wearing a garment (those worn by Mapostori) and dabbing to his tune while some of the Zungunites are also seen dabbing as they were enjoying themselves.

We really advice you all to watch this video and tell us what you think about it, to us it is one of the best to be dropped this year.

Now we all have to wait and see what the Skati Sami king will deliver for us since he promised more visuals especially from his dual album LIT with Mile.

Has it ever occurred to you that when you are listening to something or to a certain track you can relate it to another track? Like the bars wordplay, the beat or the punchlines. Apparently it’s now becoming a monotony amongst many Zim Hip Hop artists, they are now releasing tracks which are almost the same.

Their trap beats, flows, rhymes and meaningless wordplay are some of the things which we are being dished by some of these rappers. I think there is need for a change in our vicinity, we need something meaningful, something we can say ‘haaa apa aimba zvine musoro.’

Anyway, one of the songs which have been recently released and which people are sleeping is MaGangsta by Dj Kevy featuring Ti Gonzi, Schingy and Kritical Beatz

MaGangsta which was produced by GT Beatz is one of the songs which I can openly say it defies the critics which have been fore mentioned.

In the song the rappers will be pleading with God to bless and forgive everyone who have been going against God’s will. Lord forgive for my sins (x3)/ Ndinozviziva ndofrya beans/ is what you can grasp from the chorus by Ti Gonzi.

Ti Gonzi uses his talent in wordplay to come up with a meaningful message in the first verse. Some of the lines goes like Jah ndoma Prayzah/ Masoja ndozvando madira/ Vatadzi iEberneza ndosaka ndavanamatira/

Schingy’s creativity is evidenced in the second where he also pleaded with God to bless him and everyone around him. Some of the bars which the Mr Bhoo had to offer goes like, Munamato wedu Ishe hausi wekuti titenge mota/ Asi nekugara kwatoita paroad itai tisabude mamota/

Kritical Beatz could not be outclassed by Gonzi & Schingy and he showed why he is the rap killer by some touching punchlines. Kritical goes on to ask God to bless those work at midnight and those who are having a hard time finding jobs (Mwari vanzwirei tsitsi vanoshanda takarara/ Vakasaita sekudaro masinhi anotsarwa).

So what I really liked about this song is that the rappers were able to show their artistry and come up with a meaningful message which is a rare thing in the Hip Hop industry which is marred by rappers who only put their egos first. People need something meaningful which they can relate to.

So after Shay Baii it seems as if Lil Dizzie was impressed with Brythreesixty’s delivery and is now fond of collaborating with Zimbabweans on his quest of featuring African artists. This time the Nigerian indie rapper brings on board a Zimbabwean rapper by the name El Deeper who is currently based in South Africa on his first track of 2015 entitled Go Down.

Go down was produced by the one Kimosabe, a South African producer and the beat can make anyone go haywire as  it is one of those which you can really dance to.

With both artists putting in all they have into this ravishing track, El Deeper made sure that he had his country’s name on his back as he threw some vernacular lines in the record.

We don’t want to spoil the party for you and we not going to say more on this track since it is more than a feel good song and we’d want you to download the track and share with others what you think about it.
Watch this space if you want to know more about El Deeper and what he is capable of. Follow him Twitter @eldeeper and make sure not to miss any updates from him.

Apparently as much as we might talk about entertainment were ever we are, we cannot defy or resist talking about poetry. Poetry is not just a phantom in the arts world but something which we have to embrace and let it sink in ourselves such that whenever one talks about arts and entertainment, poetry will just pop up as one of the topics.

So y’all might think why are we talking about poetry today, it’s part of entertainment and we’ve just thought of giving you a taste of what is to come your way very soon in terms or poetry. One of the talented poets we’ve known, Takudzwa Denny Ziwenjere is set to drop his anthology entitled ‘The Derailed Speculations’ sometime in August (Date to be announced).

“The anthology mainly dwells on religion, identity and flaws in the society’s take on things” – Takudzwa. Below is one of the poems off ‘The Derailed Speculations’ entitled THE PORTRAIT. Enjoy and please tell us what you think about it.

The Portrait
It is a perfect poetry portrait
Pixels precisely picturing her posture
Painted purple and pink
Perplexing prowess in purchasing perspectives
Punitive points on primary politics
Penned with pride and painted with passion
Pardon my progressive pattern of Ps
Poetry praises, poetry preaches, poetry also punishes
Passion pin-pointed in plenty of my pieces
My perfect poetic portrait
Painting the proper practice of peaceful presidency
Problem presenting peach pigment patched there
Pure and productive thoughts pardoned from the prison
Poured out pro actively but proverbially papered
Poking promiscuous pastors and paper-chasing prophets
Who parent our pessimism in their pastoral practices
As we prognosticate paganism in their prophecies
Poor Peter poisoned by their paralysing portions
Picasso styled I paste the painful posture
My portrait like Paws protruding prominently I pose a risk
My poetic portrait, priceless and picturesque
Pot inspired at moments, but passionately pottered
Pedants of political and religious vitality
Pistol rounds to the clergymen and parliament persons
If practically pictured perfectly it punishes fairly
The poetic portrait

So they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, alas, I tend to ‘disagree’ with this notion because out there, there is probably one creature whom when you set your eyes on her, you’ll feel a wave of irrational fear and guilt, your teeth will chatter and your knees will knock, yet you’ll be strongly attracted to her in spite of yourself.

Anyway let’s not dwell on that and get back to the main business before perspirations and erections start to transpire to some of my ‘fellow perverts’ (lol).

You might ask yourself why you’re reading this on THE ZIM-TAINMENT, well, we’ve taken a twist for a bit and we’re going to introduce you to one of Zimbabwe’s young aspiring models.

Born in a family of two and on the 26th of April in Harare is a girl named Caroline Tavaziva. Her mother later named her Hazel because of the beautiful eyes she has.

Hazel did her Primary schooling at two schools, Louis Mt Batten for her grade 1 and Belvedere Primary from grade 2 to 7. She later went on to Girls High school for her form 1 and transferred to Dominican Convent for her form 2 up to Upper 6.

Having lost her mom and dad in 2010 and 2012 respectively, Hazel has experienced a lot in her life but has stayed strong and positive in a bid to reach her destiny. From Primary to High School Hazel was the brightest as she was always taking the number one spot in all her classes, she took numerous prizes at High School in almost all her subjects.

Losing her dad in 2012, the same year she was doing her Upper 6, Hazel knew that life was not going to be the same again and she even worked harder in School that she came out with flying colours in her ‘A’ Level and got an astonishing 15 points.

With the grace of God Hazel received a scholarship to go and study Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Chichester in the United Kingdom. This also came as a green light for Hazel to pursue her modelling career at an advanced stage. She has represented her University in Turkey where she came out second princess. Right now she is in Texas, US for her industrial attachment.

For any modelling agency wishing to work with this gem you can contact or follow her on Facebook at Hazel Caroline Tavaziva
