If you know your music
well and has listened to the likes of Thomas Mapfumo then you are about to take
the time machine and go back to the days when people were listening to
Chimurenga Music. Anyway, this is neither a Chimurenga song nor an old
sophisticated song which madhara would dance to.
Ungandiudza
chii
is Tony Lyas’s latest offering off his debut album Imwe Type which featured one of the talented and rising dancehall
chanter Triggerman. Triggerman who is on the chorus brings in the chinyakare
feeling on the track as he will be telling dem haters not to forget who he is
and to remember he is better than them in all ways.
Like all Hip Hop songs,
Tony Lyas who is ridding on the verses will be boasting himself and downgrading
his haters telling them he got nothing against them though they hate him. He
talks of not giving up on what he does as he was born a winner. Some of the
bars in the first verse goes like, “Ini
ndiri mdara just like baba vako/ Saka ndiitire easy hunhu hwechi mboko/ Ndiri
type inopisa matsaga kunge mogo.
The song which has
vernacular rap up to the end has a tight crunk feeling which makes it unique to
some of the Hip Hop songs released nowadays. Tony Lyas actually calls himself
the Crunk Boy as he says he loves Crunk Hip Hop and he also said he wants to
change the Hip Hop scene in Zimbabwe as he has something special which is
lacking in the industry. So Ungandiudza
Chii is one of those tracks you wouldn’t want to miss on your playlist.
