After the release of his latest single entitled Ndeipi President, rumor has has been going on around all the social media platforms that the Ndururani star Platinum Prince is dead. Others has been commenting on Facebook that Platinum Prince was shot dead because of the so-called diss track to His Excellency President Robert Mugabe.

Apparently Platinum Prince who was in South Africa on a tour alongside Qounfuzed, Juwela and Ninja Lipsy said that he is still alive and kicking. Platinum Prince took to his social media on his Facebook account to clear the air about his presumed death as well as correcting those who were saying that he dissed president Mugabe. Below is what he posted on his Facebook page:

" IAM ALIVE AND WELL!!
It is quite disturbing in my camp to note that there are myriad numbers of people who are fascinated with faking my death and spreading negative stories about me following the release of my single, "Ndeip President"

To clear the air, that song is not a diss song to President R.G Mugabe but rather a song of praise at the same time notifying him of other things that he might not be aware of. I would neva diss my President, in fact, he is a role model to me as i draw a lot of inspiration from him.

As an artist I have my own artistry where I use humour, Wit, Metaphors and other literal devices and I maintain that, it pains me to see people who mistake art. My intention was to just denote my creativity and uniqueness and if u think I had other intentions or I meant other things, pliz listen again.

However, I would like to thank all fans who attended our Pretoria shows and to my Zimbabwean fans I am touching down in a few hours to come udzai vavengi Vambomira kunditumira imwe mhepo cz
August sezvo ari nyamavhuvhu anemhepo dzake nekare.. ah plus kune vaye vaiti ndakafa hameno henyu cz mazita enyu haapo palist kuno kudenga #CHAKAIPA"

This is what the Ndururani star had to say and I hope everyone who thought he was dead now knows the truth. Anyway Platinum Prince will be at the Cup Clash this weekend and he has promised fireworks.

It first came as a surprise the first time I heard the first three lines of Platinum Prince’s latest track called Ndeipi yenyu President. At first I thought it was a diss song to His Excellency President Robert Mugabe as he sang, “Ndeipi yenyu baba vaBona/ Ndanzwa vanhu vachiseka kuti makadonha.”

Normally artists in Zimbabwe are “afraid” to sing songs with such kind of lyrics mocking the president.
Anyway, it seems as if Platinum Prince was only trying to lure the attention of his fans as he kinda mocks the president. In this song the dancehall chanter will not be mocking the president as such but will be letting the president know about his worries since Zimbabwe attained its independence.

Platinum Prince talks about the socio-economic problems which the people of Zimbabwe are facing on a daily basis. Some of the issues he mentions in his song are the economic problems which the nation is facing as well as current job cuts issue which has seen more than twenty thousand people lose their jobs in the past four weeks or so. In his first verse he sings, “Makatibata bho kubva 1980/ Izvezvi ndakura ndavekuma 20/ Asi honai economy president/ Mabasa hakuna handina kana cent.”

Furthermore, the Ndururani star continues to talk about the social problems which are faced by the nation. In his second verse he talks about the corruption and mismanagement of resources which has been going on in the local city councils as he sings, “Kanzuru haisi kushanda yaka easa/ Makamboenda here kuChitungwiza/ Masuweji akasara kwese vanhu vakufamba vachijamba kunge hwiza.”

This song is one of those songs which shows that the people are now tired of what is going on in Zimbabwe in all sectors of life. Anyway, Platinum Prince continues to give respect to the president for what he has done in the past. He also makes some jokes as always as sings, “Chimbondipai tip/ Munonwira bhawa ripi/ Mozoenda neni handichade hwahwa huri cheap.”

In a nutshell, this song is crazy, you need to have it on your playlist as it is one of those tracks which  will make you laugh your lungs out.

In these days were banging beats and gimmicks have helped many wack rappers gain  and keep the attention of the populace, one Harare emcee has managed to stay true to himself and continues to spit from the deepest crevices of his heart.

A Bigshots/Global records soldier, J.Nova has left many, a listener, blogger, dj and even a rapper in awe of his lyrical prowess displayed on his two 2015  singles, I was thinking and Nothing is gonna stop me.

His hunger and passion has translated into an equal hunger for his sound from heads and fans alike. The recent release of a tracklist of his debut Bigshots Ep History In The Making (#HITM) has only heightened anticipation of its release on the 25th of August 2015.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Can you kick it  show, executive producer of the album FunF_Zw and Bigshots big shot Tatenda Klasick Chideme agreed the album could change the face of local hip hop. They were also in tangent about Nova's hunger in the booth and his dedication to the pen which made working with him a joyful and rewarding experience. Follow J. Novah on facebook, twitter and instagram to get the latest on his music. We will share the link with yall soon as we get the project or you can grab a copy from the Bigshots studio at St Andrews house Harare.

I know that upon seeing the title of this track (Hapana Chekumirira) you'll think of Gze and Simba Tagz's joint. Apparently this is a complete different joint from Gze's, from the producer to the bars thrown in here you can tell that the boys are on fire.

Produced by Rockers Mix and ABC, Hapana Chekumirira is one of those typical rap joints where rappers will be ranting and raving about their hustles as well as haters.  In the first verse Rockers Jnr uses his strong voice to throw some wicked punchlines in which he talks about the shades niggaz been throwing at him. In some his lines he says, "Ndikaburitsa hit voti tamunyorera/ Ndikasasa feya voti anotaurisa." He continues on to talk about the hustles he make in the industry.

Jake Billz who's on the chorus (which I give a 5 star) comes in with the second verse. He talks about never stopping on whatever he does and he shows this by some of the lines like, "Hatimire semota isina mabraaakes/ Tofara nemakoso zvese nemafeeesi." Surely you would like him to keep him going as he starts his verse superbly. Rockers Jnr closes in with some vernacular lines as they wrap up their joint.

Oh my Gawd Marques just went Kendrick on Zimhiphop, control Kendrick or is it hit em up pac. Forget Zunguza and all those other joints he has been on on who got next Marques takes on an industry and with those bars he might just win.

He kick starts the joint by warning the audience of the lack of vernacular in the jam and how rappers are mad coz of financial lack leading to less studio time, more cellphone browsing and a deep hatred towards those making money off music. He abuses puns to put across his points and he even plays around with rappers names to make the points clearer e.g
"Daily bundle rappers spending more than they get/
Its noble how they think their style will get easier cheques"

He blasts the lack of vision among his peers flooding his timeline with petty wars on fake Chinese chains and $2 beads, focusing on who the producers are dating instead of putting in work with said producers. He addresses the irony of rappers hating their girlfriend's favorite and claims there is only one rapper in MMT.

Urban groovers aren't spared either as he points out how after all the fame, VIP access to parties all they have to show for it are S.T.Is. A few words for bloggers mostly negative are spit and he wonders if Jnr Brown will ever drop. Tehn gets a mention too:
"Windows ten is out the other Tehn nowhere near".

All in all this nuclear is a wake up call to Zimhiphop as Marcques asks some really relevant questions while dropping engaging lines.

Verdict: Hip Hop Is Alive

Charly Black
As the genre has been criticized by many people as being fake, bubble gum music with no future, it took the so-called real Dancehall artist to endorse the genre as real dancehall music. The Jamaican Dancehall superstar Charly Black who made a sterling performance at Long Cheng Plaza last night endorsed Zimdancehall artistes saying that they are doing real dancehall music albeit a different language. Responding to a question during his interview on ZiFM Stereo on Thursday night, he was asked whether he knew anything about Zimdancehall, the Wine and Kotch hit maker said, “I don’t know much about Zimbabwe music but I have heard Souljah Love and Seh Calaz sing. It is dancehall being sung in a different language. They sing dancehall so I don’t know if you call it with another name but to me it’s dancehall.”

His response goes a long way in authenticating the genre which has been criticized by many as bubble gum music. The genre which has been lured by violent lyrics and drug abuse has been said to have no future just like the so-called urban grooves (though debatable). However, it seems as if all those speculations may not come to pass as the Zimdancehall artists are maturing day by day. Artists like Tocky Vibes and Ras Caleb has come on the scene with some touching positive message which has even caught the eyes of those who didn’t want to hear anything about the genre. So should the term Zimdancehall continue to be used or not? Maybe if we had used Dancehall it would have been noticed internationally (food for thought).

On another note it’s all good news for the Zimdancehall fans as two of the biggest rivals in the genre have joined forces. Seh Calaz and Souljah Love who have not seen eye to eye for at least two years now have now resolved their issues thanks to the Bodyslam president who was the mediator. Seh Calaz and Souljah Love who has exchanged violent and harsh lyrics over the past two years are now in good books. The duo are also the ones who caused havoc at the famous Sting Clash which took place last year as they almost exchanged blows on stage which resulted in teargas being fired and many people getting hurt. Seh Calaz and Souljah Love shared the stage last night at the Charly Black show held in Harare.

CHIMULAMMBE
A prison officer Po1 Chimulambe  stationed at Chinhoyi Prison has been arrested by Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services Police after leaking his nude and pornographic pictures. Some of pictures show Chimulambe sucking Memory's private parts wearing the Zimbabwe Prison Service uniform. Po1 Chimulambe is currently detained at the Harare Central Prison boom gate charge office. Po 2 Madzima from the Prison Police refused to comment on the charges being faced by Chimulambe  but rather referd us to Supt Navoius, the Officer In Charge.

CHIMULAMBE SUCKING MEMORY'S P*SSY
Anyway it seems as if people are now misusing/abusing the modern technological advancements. Is it because vanhu havadi kusara in this digital world we are living in? I always thought this was only done by the youths/teenagers but it seems as if it has gone viral and now done by really grown up people. Who knows, maybe national televisions will end up screening pornographic films.

STUNNER FOR  BEST MALE SOUTHERN AFEICA
Though Zimbabwean artists have not been recognized on the popular glamorous awards such as the Channel O awards and MAMAs, they have also managed to get attention from the African Entertainment Awards and the African Music Magazine Awards. This year there is a total number of eight Zimbabweans who have been nominated in the AEAs as well as one in the AFRIMMAS.

Below is a list of the Zim nomineed and their categories:
1. Tehn Diamond - Best Hip Hop Song (Happy)
2. Selmor Mtukudzi - Hottest Female Song (Nguva yangu)
3. Comrade Fatso - Best Comedian
4. Brian Soko - Best Producer (Drunk In  Love)
5. Tongai Chirisa - Best Actor In Film/Series (Crusso)
6. Danai Gurira - Best Actress In Film/Series (The Walking Dead)
7. Farayi Simoyi - Best Designer (Designer for Nicki Minaj's fashion collection)
8. Tinashe - Hottest Female Song (2on)

In the AFRIMMAS Stunner has been nominated for the second time in a row for the Beat Male Southern Africa alongside AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Donald, Zeus, Slap Dee, The Dogg and Vee.

Today the Chevrons lived up to their promise as they made it all the way to beat New Zealand by seven wickets. New Zealand were the first to bat and put up a splendid 303 runs for four wickets. Many people assumed that Zimbabwe would not be able to chase New Zealand up to 300 runs as usual.

To my surprise, the partnership of Hamilton Masakadza and Chamu Chibhabha made a splendid effort to give Zimbabwe a chance to steal the match. It took the mastery and experience of Craig Ervine who came in for Chamu to give all the Zimbabwean supporters hope of winning the match. Craig Ervine who was voted man of the match had also a good partnership with Hamilton Masakadza and he also managed to score his highest score in the ODIs of 130 runs.

It was all joy for the Zimbabwean cricket fans as Zimbabwe won the first ODI against New Zealand. Now Zimbabwe is left with two ODIs and one test match. We hope they will carry on with the good performance and bravery.

Rising dancehall chanter Caleb Tareka, popularly known in the Zim-dancehall industry as Ras Caleb is promising fireworks on his forthcoming album, The Rascals Manuscript.

The Masvingo-born artist who is known by his slogan, "Zvikiribidi zvangu", rose to stardom after penning soulful tracks such as Tokwe Mukosi, Toropito, Nehanda and Mwana wenyu. Ras Caleb believes the forthcoming 10-track album will scale him to dizzy heights that will enable him to compete without fear with other heavyweights in the industry, the likes of Tocky Vibes, Killer T, Soul Jah Love and Seh Calaz.

Some of the songs on the forthcoming project are Rasta in the jungle, Hovhiyo and Ndouya. On his Facebook page, Ras Caleb added on to say that the album carries some conscious music and is filled with deep and inspiring messages. It is not limited to reggae dancehall, but has several other genres incorporated. Ras Caleb who said the album is set to be released next month has also performed some of the singles which make up the album at some of his local shows.

The dreadlocked chanter started his musical career as a junior soldier in the Salvation Army. He never abandoned music when he left Zimbabwe for South Africa to pursue a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies. He returned home in 2010 and settled for Harare a year later. His emotional chart buster, Tokwe Mukosi (on Pure niceness riddim) was voted as the best conscious song in 2014’s Zim-Dancehall awards.

Some of the people I have talked to said that they have fallen in love with his music because of his voice. I quoted someone saying, "Haaaa mdara voice ra jahman vaye vaye rinondiita bho..." Moreover, Ras Caleb has also done collaborations with artists like Thelma, Pah Chihera and the Zim-HipHop femcee Trae Yung.
