So the wait is finally over as That Luveve Boy has finally dropped the much 'anticipated' #UsedToRunIt, a reply to Jnr Brown's #WeRunIt.

Apparently after #WeRunIt, many people caught feelings and emotins, especially those who thought the joint was directed at them. Cal quickly announced the release of #UsedToRunIt that same day.

Now on to #UsedToRunIt, Cal went in with all his heart (fact) on the joint which is completely in English unlike Breezy's vernac joint. I had to go through some Tweets on the joint before I downloaded it to listen for myself.

The joint has some hard hiiting bars which has sent some people in frenzy. Some of the lines which had people go bananas on on Twitter goes like, "You think you had a biggest song last year/ call me Winky D coz I made that shit disappear"

Okay, so the song has some hard hitting bars, yes! I think lyrically he was on point as he patterned through the beat in an exceptional way. Cal Vin murdered this track.

However, one thing that I've noticed is that I think Cal went in too early and I think he failed to deliver his best. I love Calvin's music but I think he should've taken his time to deliver a spectacular diss track (Like what he did on 'The warning').

When I first played the track it seemed as if it was a Cassper's Le mpitse beat at the beginning, something which I didn't like at all. Even if you listen to the second verse it's completely a Cassper Nyovest copy and paste.

I don't care if y'all do not agree with me but #UsedToRunIt is not on point, will have to wait for the other rappers who're dropping their joints addressing #WeRunIt. This is an opinion based article!!!

With the Zim Hip Hop Awards around the corner and the deadline for the artists’ applications being set we been thinking of the potential winners of the annual accolades. This article is based on opinions and if you think you have your own nominees and winners you are free to share with us in the comment box. Apparently there are only a few artists whom we gon look at and whom we think 2015 was their year. The artists whom we gon talk about below are potential winners if they submit their applications for the awards.

To begin with, the first category I’m gon look at is the Best Newcomer. There might be quite a number of rappers which will come to your mind if you think about this category. One guy who has popped up and caught people’s attention is the Bulawayo rapper Asaph. Asaph who calls himself the Zim Hip Hop Savior rose to stardom with his 2015 album called Kingsvilla. Kingsvilla which include tracks like Burg Sosh, Potential (feat Mimie) and my personal favorite Kingsvilla is a compilation of some of the doppest Zim Hip Hop tracks which you gon put on repeat all day long and if he was to get enough air play he probably would have a couple of hit songs. If Asaph submits his application then he is one of the artists who stands a chance to win at the ZHHA.

The next category which am gon look at is the Best Male in which I have a few rappers whom I think will walk away with the accolades at the Zim Hip Hop Awards. The first guy whom I think is gon walk away with this accolade is Gze, one of the best lyricist in the industry. Gze’s Chimio which featured Jnr Brown might make just make him the best male artist this year. Another artist who will be contesting this award is the Bulawayo based Luveve boy, Cal Vin. Cal who recently launched his album made people nod their heads with his hit track Zkhupani which also saw him make a collaboration of the same track’s remix with one of Africa’s best, Cassper Nyovest. The other contestants include the king of vernacular rap, Noble Styles and Soko Matemai, Sharky.

Anyway, how can we talk about the the Zim Hip Hop Awards without mentioning the femcees. These females have shown that they are capable of going neck to neck with their male counterparts. One of the femcees whom might take the Best Female award is the Masofa Panze queen Blackperl. Blackperl’s recent offering might just add her an advantage on winning the best female accolade as track has wowed many Hip Hop followers in Zim.

Now it’s only left to the artists to submit their applications for the awards and remember this is an opinion based article and if you don’t agree with it haisi nyaya gara wakadaro lol.
